Watching Old Iranian Singers:

Documentary on female actors, Bahman Maghsoudloo

We need a documentary on female Iranian singers in the 1st half of the 20th century, from classical ones like Ghamar Moluk and RoohAngiz to Bazari ones such as Mahvash, Afat and Shahin

Some are still alive: Sarshar, Ahdieh, Homeyra,

Ghamar: her reputation and various accounts of her singing, her generous persona

Many old recordings of Ghamar Moluk that most of us had assumed destroyed by now.
Even a movie scene with Ghamar.

Movies as a means for preserving a snapshot of these singers

Movies with western decor and fashion but actors who sing in 19th c. ghajar music, mixed at times with some jazzy tunes


Roohangiz: I did not know much abt her and I must say I do find her almost as good as Ghamar, based on what audio with the poor quality we have available.
