In Thailand, breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among women, followed by cervical cancer. These diseases are leading causes of death worldwide.
Central Group's Cancer Care Fair, held from October 22-24, 2025, aims to raise awareness, support, and improve access to effective medical care for women with cancer. Early detection and timely treatment can significantly increase survival rates and improve quality of life.
The event featured various activities, including the sale of preloved items by celebrities, with proceeds going towards the cause. There were also special collections of clothing and accessories, with a portion of the sales donated to the initiative. Additionally, attendees could participate in free breast prosthesis sewing workshops and write messages of encouragement for patients.
The Cancer Care Fair not only served as a fundraising platform but also as a space for "heart power" where love, understanding, and collaboration were reflected. It aimed to provide patients with treatment opportunities and inspiration to overcome their illnesses with strength and hope.
Dr. Saylak Pimko, Deputy Director of the Medical Department at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital, emphasized the importance of the Central Group Women Cancer project in enhancing women's health services. The project helped acquire essential medical equipment, such as colposcopes for detailed and accurate cervical cancer screening.
The project also covered the detection and treatment of breast cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, and endometrial cancer, which are common cancers and leading causes of death among Thai women. Dr. Saylak stressed the importance of preventive healthcare for women, especially those aged 30 and above, recommending HPV DNA testing every 5 years to assess cervical cancer risk. Women aged 40 and above should undergo mammogram screening annually to detect breast cancer.
Regular exercise, adequate rest, and avoidance of risk factors like stress, smoking, and high-fat diets can reduce the long-term risk of cancer.
The Cancer Care Fair offered a range of activities, from raising awareness and supporting the initiative to inspiring patients. It provided diverse opportunities for public participation, including online donations through the Thamdee website until November 30, 2025. Donations could also be made to the Jirathiwat Foundation account at Krung Thai Bank (account number: 118-0-58203-1), donation boxes at over 491 locations nationwide, and by exchanging The 1 points for donations through the The 1 app until November 30, 2025 (800 points = 100 baht).
These initiatives opened opportunities for everyone to support women with cancer and contribute to social and health equity.
Supatra Jirathiwat, Consultant at Central Group, emphasized the continuity of the Central Group Women Cancer project over the past 20 years as an example of creating social and health value. Central Group not only provides financial support but also focuses on building networks and spaces for heart power to empower women with cancer through encouragement, appropriate treatment, and health education.
The project serves as an example of a comprehensive initiative that combines social and health dimensions of well-being. It promotes awareness of women's health and inspires patients to fight their illnesses with resilience. It also brings together citizens, businesses, and the government to create an equal society, particularly in supporting Thai women's access to healthcare.
The collaboration between citizens, businesses, and the government is a key factor in the success of the Central Group Women Cancer project, making it another example of social and health equity that is accessible to all.
