Over the last year, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Afghanistan and UNCDF have been digitizing the delivery of cash-based aid for UNDP’s flagship programme, Area Based Approach to Development Emergency Initiatives (ABADEI).

The pilot project, working with 7 international nongovernmental organizations (INGOs) and 7 financial service providers (FSPs), has allowed UNDP Afghanistan and UNCDF to reach 15,000 beneficiaries, including 3,000 women, with a volume of transactions over US$1 million.

In this webinar, INGOs, FSPs, UNDP and UNCDF shared the experiences, success stories and improvements of the existing cash-based aid delivery mechanisms.

The participants discussed how digitizing cash transfers in #Afghanistan can make payments faster, cheaper and more accessible so that no one is left behind amidst the current crisis, especially women.
