🔊🔛 For our longest cruise day of our @ErieCanalAdventures, we headed back eastbound, from Spencerport to Fairport—but not without refilling the Cayuga’s water tank at the Spencerport dock using my precision parallel docking skills—skills that only came with practice. In fact, all of our canal boating skills had improved. @Anna_Staropoli’s nautical knot skills became second nature, as well as her lock rope duties. @FrisbieRichard took better notice of waterfowl, pointing out sparrow nests made of mud under the bridges, in addition to duck and heron sightings. And my piloting skills were so good that I even ate corn-on-the-cob while driving. 🌽

Even though we were backtracking, the scenery looked different—going the other way of wilderness journey often does that. But we revisited some old familiars—Lock 33, Lock 32, and the Fairport Lift Bridge—and handled them like old pros.
