The king of Mahoba, Parimal, had renounced his weapons, but his foster sons, Alha, Udal, and Malkhan, upheld his legacy with their valor. In his court, however, there was a schemer named Mahil, who thrived on deceit. One day, Mahil praised the horses of Kabul, leading the king to announce that whoever brought those horses would be hailed as a true warrior. Udal accepted the challenge.

The king provided Udal and his companion Dhewa with fourteen mules and gold coins for expenses. With blessings, they embarked on their journey. After many days, they reached Narvargarh, where Udal heard of Princess Phulwa’s unmatched beauty. He resolved to meet her before continuing his quest.

Reaching Phulwa’s garden, Udal faced resistance from the gardener, but he cleverly won him over. Later, the gardener’s wife, Hiriya, also became an ally. Despite months of effort, Udal could not meet Phulwa. Determined, he devised a plan—disguising himself as a woman and accompanying Hiriya to the palace with a four-stringed necklace.

Phulwa recognized Udal immediately. Love blossomed between them, but Udal refused a clandestine marriage. He promised to return with a formal wedding procession from Mahoba.

Back in Mahoba, Udal shared everything with King Parimal and his family. The marriage was approved, but Alha warned of the potential conflict with Narvargarh’s King Narpat. Yet, Udal remained resolute.

On an auspicious day, Udal’s wedding procession set out for Narvargarh. A message was sent to King Narpat en route. Though tensions ran high between the two sides, the wedding eventually took place, uniting Princess Phulwa and the brave Udal.

This union immortalized Udal’s bravery and Phulwa’s beauty, etching their story in the annals of history.
