Tanner from the Yellow Rose Meat Market is here to beef up your knowledge on steaks!

"A lot of people don't realize that a T-Bone steak is actually a filet mignon and a New York strip," Tanner said, explaining that the T-shaped bone is all that separates these two popular cuts.

Tanner demonstrated how to identify each part of the T-Bone, noting, "If you look at this side of the steak, this is going to be your New York strip. And this right here is going to be your filet mignon." He added that the T-Bone is one of the best cuts because "the meat closer to the bone adds so much more flavor."

For those watching their waistlines, Tanner recommended sirloin or New York strip steaks as leaner options. "The sirloin steak, which comes from the rump of the cow, is going to be a lot leaner," he said.

Tanner also shared a little-known fact about the elusive hanger steak, often called a butcher steak. "There's only one per cow," he said, making it a rare find in supermarkets.

As the Fourth of July approaches, Tanner reminded viewers of the market's weekly specials and encouraged them to sign up for promotions at yrbeef.com. "We have a steak or a dinner night every Thursday that alternates between our locations," he said.

The Yellow Rose Meat Market is open today until 7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. They're closed on Sunday but will reopen Monday with a fresh weekly special. Tanner looks forward to seeing everyone next Friday for a special Fourth of July celebration.
