This upgrade is a must if you are looking for Spotify, Bluetooth Audio, and full iPhone connectivity with the iDrive including album art, playlists, and text messages in your BMW E60 5 series. In order for your E60 to be compatible with this hardware upgrade, it needs to have the CIC iDrive, the USB audio option in the armrest, and Bluetooth from factory. What makes this upgrade extraordinary is that it was never possible from factory since the E60 was discontinued in 2010 and the Combox was introduced in 2011. However, I think the CIC iDrive looks the best in the E60 since the screen is so flawlessly integrated into the dashboard and protected against damage or glare. The Combox is the icing on the cake that will make your E60 and CIC iDrive exceptional.

BimmerTech has done a great job in providing the complete package, creating a custom made wiring harness for the E60, and providing you with full coding to make everything look and feel like the Combox originally came with the car as a factory option.

You will have to relocate the Tire Pressure Monitor module and the Park Distance Sensor module and this rectangle antenna thing to the corner behind the left taillight since they are all on the same wiring harness as the MULF and that’s the only way the harness will reach the Combox without disconnecting anything. Also the white connector for the Bluetooth antenna goes in the WHITE plug on the Combox and you will need to use the supplied extension for the black plug. The trunk trim on the left side might not fit all the way after relocating the wiring harness but it is very minor and unnoticeable compared to all the extra functionality you get with the Combox.
