Описание к видео Excel - Hyperlinks Aren't Hot: Episode 1361

Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Learn Excel Podcast: How to Make Your Hyperlinks Hot in Excel.

Welcome to the Learn Excel podcast with Bill Jelen from MrExcel.com. In this episode, number 1361, we will be discussing the topic of hyperlinks and whether or not they are hot. If you're not familiar with hyperlinks, they are a great way to quickly access websites or other documents by simply clicking on a link within your Excel spreadsheet.

Usually, when you type a website address into a cell and press Enter, Excel automatically converts it into a hyperlink. However, what happens when you paste data from another source, such as Word or an email? The hyperlinks don't automatically become active, which can be quite frustrating. In this video, we will show you how to solve this problem and make all your hyperlinks hot.

The solution lies in using the HYPERLINK function in Excel. This function allows you to create a hyperlink by specifying the link location and a friendly name. In our example, we will use the link location as the friendly name, making it easier and quicker to create multiple hyperlinks. However, there is one important thing to note - if your text does not include "http://" at the beginning, the hyperlink will not work. But don't worry, we will show you how to fix this issue as well.

Once we have all our hyperlinks set up, we want to make sure they stay active when we copy and paste the data elsewhere. To do this, we will use the paste special function and choose to paste values only. This will convert the formulas into actual hyperlinks, ensuring they remain hot even when we move the data.

There are faster ways to paste values in newer versions of Excel, but we wanted to show you the most reliable method that works in any version. We hope this video has helped you understand how to make your hyperlinks hot and saved you from the frustration of non-working links. Thank you for watching and be sure to tune in for more helpful tips and tricks in our future netcasts from MrExcel.
