How to measure belts - I use this method to measure small belts for replacement in Cassette Decks CD players DVD player Recorders Record Players etc I do this to not have to pay the extortionately rip of prices of MRP . I do not equate or use the circumference of the nail because it is to precise and Leeds to a loose belt. The Circumference of the nail = 4.711mm. I used the 3mm that is the DIAMETER * 2 = 2 NAILS, to give a sightly tighter fitting belt. here is the Equation I have used for may years when replacing belts.
P = PI = 3.141
D = DIAMETER
R = RADIUS
ND1 = NAIL OUTER DIAMETER = 1.5mm
NC1 = NAIL OUTER CIRCUMFERENCE = 4.711mm
NC2 = SECOND NAIL OUTER CIRCUMFERENCE = 4.711mm
Y = HALF OF BELT LENGTH
CB = BELT INNER CIRCUMFERENCE = ?
CIRCUMFERENCE = P*D = 3.141*D ( OR ) 2*P*R
NC1/2 = 0.75 + NC2/2 = 0.75 = NCT = 4.711mm
CB = Y*2+NCT
