This month's Pixel Mixers theme was Motoi Sakuraba vs Yoko Shimomura. Both fantastic composers, but I've always been a big fan of Sakuraba's stuff, especially from Golden Sun and Dark Souls.
So with this wealth of RPG soundtrack gold, we of course decided to cover something from Mario Golf! I remember Mario Golf coming out and not thinking much of it, but at some point I got hooked, and that soundtrack is so fun and catchy.
The 12 minute Ninja Gaiden medley kind of wrecked us a bit last month so we opted for something more chill, and this track fit the bill. It didn't feel right to do my usual thing of replacing almost all instruments with guitars, so I reached out for some flute and accordion. GOTW and Justin absolutely killed it, carrying the cover on their shoulders.
Serrin's drumming really changed the feel of the original, some really amazing stuff, you all should look at what he's playing and tell him you love him.
I also snuck in some of my distorted bullshit just because I can, and it feels weird whenever I don't. Something I jammed out on the day because I was really feeling it after hearing everyone's contributions so far. Hope I didn't ruin the vibe.
