For my 45th episode of “TEN YEARS LATER,” I’m gonna be taking a look at the 2011 Tyler, The Creator album “Goblin.” This was the debut album from the California Odd Future rapper Tyler, The Creator, who first blew up in 2009 with his mixtape “Bastard.” While his early records received a lot of hype, they also riled up a lot of controversies. Tyler’s music was extremely provocative and filled with insensitive writing guaranteed to age like milk. I was interested in going back to this era of Tyler’s music, though I was initially turned off by the album’s length, along with Tyler’s own admission that the album was “trash.” And while I don’t feel like it’s trash, I can’t fully disagree with Tyler’s self-assessment because this thing is very painfully dated.

Favorite tracks: Yonkers, She, Nightmare, Her, Analog

Least favorite tracks: Radicals, Bitch Suck Dick

Rating: Bad
