Geese don't need a pond to be happy, but they do need plenty of fresh water. Besides playing and bathing, geese use fresh water to clean their sinuses after eating food. Without fresh water, a goose can't swallow its food or breathe properly.

Sadly, this goose was found in a concrete retention pond without any access to food. She is a domestic goose and was clearly abandoned and left to die. A local resident attempted to feed the goose but the bird was growing weaker and eventually stopped swimming altogether.

Luckily, a good samaritan saw her struggling for survival and called our rescue for help. This poor goose was trapped in the retention pond for weeks. She is still not holding down food but we are determined to nurse this little lady back to health.
