The Mississippi River is a critical flyway for migrating birds such as the Lesser Scaup. Volunteer scientists and duck enthusiasts help band these diving ducks to understand how migratory habits and population dynamics are changing and track where habitat restoration would be most effective. The Nature Conservancy and its partners are interested in restoring habitat in Pool 19 in the Mississippi River to protect these diving ducks and all the wildlife and people that depend on this stretch of the river.
