Oct 7th, 2022. Friday of the San Francisco fleet week. Predicted in the weather report was a sunny day, around 72 degree. However, rule number one sailing San Francisco Bay, always prepare for the worse. The Golden Gate Bridge in the fog is something else, which is normal in the morning. The parade of ships sailed through the gate in the heavy fog. More experienced sailors have positioned themselves to the south east side of Alcatraz away from the fog. We decided to do the same and hope the fog will dissipate for the blue angels in the afternoon.

Around 3 pm in the afternoon, the fog actually got thicker with only patches of blue sky here and there. Wind picked up to around 25 knot as usual, so did the waves. Everybody was just glad they didn’t cancel the show. They did cancel the Sunday show due to the heavy fog two days later.

Blue angels played hide and seek. Most of time we heard them loud and clear above us, but couldn’t see them. When we did see them, they were absolutely spectacular. So, stay and enjoy the show
