Christian Care, a Rock Island nonprofit that provides food, shelter, and support services for the homeless and veterans, was one of ten organizations to be given a $20,000 Charitable Trust grant. Treasurer Michael Frerichs revived the treasurer’s Charitable Trust Stabilization Program to help small Illinois nonprofits fulfill their missions to serve people in need by providing housing, food, and workforce and economic development assistance.

When I came into office, we set up the Charitable Trust grant program. We give to smaller nonprofits. We give grants every year around $20,000. So today, I am proud to announce that we are putting up ten new grants throughout the State of Illinois. And one of those grants will be administered here to Christian Care.

We are on track to serve 45,000 meals. That is an increase this year over last of 9%.

The $20,000 will be specifically used for our meal sites. It's going to help with funding for our staff, funding for food and supplies because, as we all know, costs have increased significantly.

We know that when we put money into an organization like Christian Care, they're going to make a big impact in this community
