✨ About St. Joseph’s Church, Ambattur ✨

St. Joseph's Church, located near Ambattur Railway Station at Kalyanapuram, was originally founded in 1962 by Rev. Fr. Philip Manathra, who humbly began with a small hut. Initially a substation of St. Antony's Shrine, Avadi, it was later elevated to an independent parish in 1972 by the late Archbishop, Most Rev. Dr. R. Arulappa.

Over the years, many dedicated priests have shepherded our parish:
• Rev. Fr. James Panaparampil – First parish priest
• Rev. Fr. V. M. Thomas Vattakottayil (1975) – Developed the parish
• Rev. Fr. G. M. Joseph (1982)
• Rev. Fr. P. J. Lawrence Raj (1985) – Established the school (1986) and constructed the present church (1993)
• Rev. Fr. J. Maria Amalaraj (1994)
• Rev. Fr. Jebamalai D (1999)
• Rev. Fr. S. Kanikairaj (2000)
• Rev. Fr. P. K. Mathew (2007 onwards)

In recent years:
• Rev. Fr. Divyanathan (2014) and Fr. Pascal (2015)
• Rev. Fr. Andrew Dominic (2016) led the major renovation for the Silver Jubilee, with the rededication Mass held on 22nd July 2018 by Most Rev. Dr. George Antonysamy. His work also included renovation of the school, Grotto, Eucharistic Chapel, Bell Tower, Dispensary, and the installation of the Sleeping St. Joseph statue on 16th June 2021.

✨ Currently, Rev. Fr. Jacob is serving as the Parish Priest since July 2021. ✨
