As battle raged in the south, Pei was on his way to the capital. As his army moved briskly down the road, he could see the columns of smoke rising into the sky above the mountains. The city was under siege... with a sinking feeling in his heart, he spurred his horse on.

Arriving at the city, he surveyed the situation. The enemy was numerous, but with the garrison at the capital reinforcing his army, he was sure he outnumbered them. He managed to slip into the city via a secret entrance in the mountains and met with the defense commander.

The plan was simple. Pei and his forces would push past the capital and attack the enemy head on. Then, when the siege was lifted and all enemy units pulled to battle with Pei, the garrison army would reinforce his position.....
