【国道122号旧道 細尾峠】1978年の日足トンネル開通まで現役だった旧道 | 起点（日光市足尾町）→ 終点（日光市細尾町）/ Hosoo Pass, an old road on Route 122

This is an old road of Route 122 in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, running through Hosoo Pass above the Nissoku Tunnel.
Although the road surface is incomplete, the asphalt pavement is well maintained and relatively easy to drive on, as long as you can tolerate dead branches and fallen leaves.
At present, it is not a road actively used by cars, but rather a route for hikers on the Yakushidake, Yuhidake and Jizodake mountains.
After the opening of the Nissoku Tunnel, the designation of this road as a national highway was lifted, but for some reason the national highway sign was not removed and still exists in a faded state.

栃木県日光市にある国道122号の旧道で日足トンネルの上にある細尾峠を貫いています。路面の清掃こそ不完全な状態ですアスファルト舗装はそれほど荒れずに維持されており枯れ枝や落ち葉さえ許容できれば比較的走りやすい道路です。現在は自動車が積極的に利用する道路ではなく薬師岳、夕日岳、地蔵岳のハイカー向けの路線となっている印象です。日足トンネル開通後に本道路は国道指定を解除されていますがなぜか国道標識は撤去されず色褪せた状態で現存しています。
