I decided to do what was essentially both a trial-run/initial rehearsal for, and also a performance of, (part of) my planned "Minotaur Live" performance sequence. This video is the result of said experiment.

Ideally, I'd like to perform the full sequence (which could be adjusted for a longer/shorter set, depending on the venue and the type of booking) at a large-enough livespace/venue to present it on a big screen and with "big sound." I am currently planning this for sometime in early 2026, ideally starting between January and March, though I currently have no shows booked or planned at a venue large enough to do this sort of multimedia performance. (I have two upcoming shows, but both are at small venues and I will be playing "acoustic-style" rather than "electronica-style.")

In any case, this is what "Minotaur" looks/sounds like post-editing both the sound and the video (vision) for what was an at-home "after dark" (but also not-too-late-at-night) run-through on Christmas Eve,, with all of the backing tracks synched to the video playing only for me via my wireless Audio Technica "in-ears" (not the expensive kind, by the way, just regular wireless earphones), using no microphone or vocal amplification of any kind, and with the piano synthesizer (Yamaha MX-49) and my small analog noise synthesizer (Kastle 2.0) run simultaneously through the same small, mono Yamaha "monitoring amp" sitting atop my desk (next to the keyboard) which, too, was also kept at a rather low volume throughout...

The raw audio from my stationary iPhone SE (via which I filmed the main video) was later mixed from the raw recording of my voice and the piano/noise synth via Logic, and then synched to the backing tracks that I had listened to while performing (and with the projector running the images behind me on my wall) in the "in-ears." For the second and third performances found on this video, I also synched (in a faded version) the original video images themselves atop the "main" video of myself performing with the same images (literally, and in real time) projected behind me on a blank wall"...

Technical notes: The Apple iPhone I am using (an older SE model) records/films video at a speed slightly different from standard speed on other devices, I have found, and the information I have gathered about this online confirmed my initial suspicions (from my experience) about it. This is not a major problem when filming, say, an acoustic performance with no backing audio or video, since no one (myself included) would normally notice the difference in "real time," but whenever I've tried to synch the video I've taken with another video and/or audio from another source (for instance video taken with someone else's non-iPhone/Apple camera, or my own audio from Logic, as here),, I always end up needing to engage in a sort of hair-pulling surgical re-editing of the two parts in order to keep the tracks consistently synched throughout.

After "perfectly synching" any sequence, using data (video, audio) from any other device, one would expect that the synch would thereafter remain "on track" until the very end of the video, but with the iPhone, I've found, after about 60-90 seconds one begins to notice that the additional video (or audio) that was so perfect at the beginning begins to fall out-of-synch with whatever was filmed or recorded via the iPhone... And so, one can only do one's best to make several unobtrusive "cuts" every so often to either the iPhone source video (not generally recommended) or the additional source video (what I did here), "tuck" one or two frames into the void so that it "catches up" with the iPhone, and then to resynch it...

This in itself is a kind of unsung art form (IMO, and I say this with my tongue anxiously skirting around the inside of my cheekbone), one that I have grown rather accustomed to since around 2020 or thereabouts, but I am never very happy about it...

And so, here is my best edit, for better or for worse, of last night's rehearsal/performance/experiment which, though perhaps not perfect, I nonetheless do think gives one a fairly good sense of what "Minotaur" might look and sound like on a stage with projections on a proper screen and a PA system through which to broadcast the chaos-noise-dystopia.
