Charnwood College Riders produced a clinical performance to defeat SGS College 109-47 on Wednesday afternoon in Loughborough, led by 21 points from Johde Campbell.

SGS started the game brightly getting the better of the early exchanges before Charnwood took control of the game midway through the first quarter. An and one-from Sesan Russell to finish the first quarter gave Charnwood a 29-18 despite 8 first quarter points from AJ Edu.

Charnwood would step up defensively in the second quarter, restricting SGS to just 4 points whilst pouring in 29 points of their own. The third quarter was much the same with Charnwood taking it 29-7.

The fourth quarter was much more evenly matched with both teams going deep in to their rotations.

Johde Campbell was pleased with his team’s performance, saying:

“We were very confident going in to the game knowing who their main threats were. We did a good job of sticking to the game plan defensively and the doing the things we do in practice to impact the game.”

David Issekya (16), Morgan Carter (15), Romario Spence (13) and Kyle Jimenez (10) all scored in double figures for Charnwood. AJ Edu led SGS with 12 points.

SGS are back in action next Wednesday when they host Bournville College on the 9th of November. Charnwood have a week break before travelling to face Derby College on the 16th of November.
