Super Mario RPG is one of my all time favorite games and Booster Tower is one of the best parts. There are two musical themes, this solemn one and then a ridiculously dirty upbeat one. Not sure I can do the latter in Mario Paint so I started here.

I was a child when Mario Paint released on Super Nintendo. It was the first digital music creation tool I ever used, and I was hooked. It was a uniquely accessible tool for the times, which worked well for me as a young musician.

Mario Paint carries some serious limitations - no sharps & flats, only 3 instruments at the same time, no syncopation, and only 96 beats worth of music - that make it functionally very different from more modern music tools (or mods of Mario Paint). That said, I enjoy it - it becomes a fun puzzle to figure out how to finesse different pieces into sounding good within those limitations.

I've kept up making music here and there and recently thought it might be fun to make a full-on YouTube channel to share my work. Enjoy!
