When I was 6 years old, I came home to discover a brand-spanking new Macintosh LC 475 in the family living room, and with that my first play of Solarian II - an arcade-style space shooter with quirky sounds and tricky enemies - barrels of fun but infuriatingly difficult. For 29 years it's been a goal of mine to beat this game and today, I finally did it!

As far as I can tell, this is the first time a complete run has been recorded and submitted online. And by that metric, this is the highest score and fastest speedrun of Solarian II in the world! Of couse, by the same token this run is also the lowest and slowest, so y'know... swings and roundabouts. But the bar has been set and it's ready for someone to take the challenge. Can you do better?

Emulation:

This was version 1.04 played on an old Quadra ROM using Basilisk II software to emulate the Mac System 7.5.3 environment. Original resolution 640x480px, upscaled 4.5x (hard edges preserved).
