“In 5G NR (New Radio), network architecture is designed to enhance performance, reduce latency, and support massive connectivity. Two key elements in this architecture are Cell Groups and Cell Nodes, which help in managing connections between the User Equipment (UE) and the 5G base station (gNB).

1. Cell Groups in 5G NR:

5G networks use a multi-cell architecture to ensure seamless connectivity. The two main types of Cell Groups are:
• Master Cell Group (MCG) – The primary connection between the UE and the Master gNB (MgNB), ensuring reliable communication.
• Secondary Cell Group (SCG) – Additional cells connected to the Secondary gNB (SgNB) to improve network performance, mainly in Dual Connectivity (DC) scenarios.

2. Cell Nodes in 5G NR:

Cell nodes are individual network elements that provide radio coverage. The main types are:
• Primary Cell (PCell) – The main cell responsible for initial access, RRC connection, and mobility.
• Secondary Cell (SCell) – Additional cells used to increase data throughput and capacity in Carrier Aggregation (CA).
• Serving Cells – The combination of PCell and one or more SCells, forming a Cell Group for efficient data transmission.

Why Are Cell Groups and Cell Nodes Important in 5G?

✔ Enhance network capacity by utilizing multiple cells efficiently.
✔ Improve user experience by enabling higher speeds through Carrier Aggregation.
