Let’s get moving. Everyone experiences vision loss differently.
Some may feel overwhelmed by sound. Some may feel imbalanced or vertigo. Some may feel paralyzed with fear of the unknown. Knowing that moving again is critical, here are a few tips to get you started on the path to independence. Before getting up from a seated position, get grounded. Place both feet flat on the floor and think through where you would like to go. Move with purpose using your feet to feel the flooring and your hands to lightly trail or feel the furniture and walls. Learning to identify things through touch is very important. Notice flooring changes, stationary sound from a television, or purposefully place furniture to help guide you. To stay safe, hold one arm diagonally in front of your upper body with your hand near your face can protect you from getting hurt.
