Scoring 1,000 career points is a milestone many high school basketball players dream of reaching. For Lebanon High School senior Olive Brandt, it was also a moment decades in the making, one that tied her directly to her family’s history inside the Cedars’ gym.

Brandt reached the milestone on Dec. 7, joining her grandfather as a 1,000 point scorer at Lebanon, wearing the program’s familiar red and blue. Her grandfather accomplished the feat 55 years earlier, a connection that made the moment as emotional as it was historic.

“It’s something I wanted really badly, probably more than her,” said Tom Brandt, Olive's grandfather. “She knew I wanted it and to be up there on the wall, on the banners side by side for eternity, it was 55 years ago that I did mine. For her to do it here in the red and the blue again means more than anything. I scored a lot of my points here [so for her] to do it in this gym, it’s something I would have never dreamed of 55 years ago.”
