I don't always throw on the Gi but today I caught up with ‪@SifuAlanBaker‬ after BJJ to demonstrate how the tecniques learned in class can be used as a tool in another primal environment we study in C-Tac: Grounded Weapons Fighting.

In this video, I explore grounded weapons control concepts—specifically how to manage and neutralize an armed threat while on the ground in side control.

We begin by looking at a few foundational BJJ techniques—Kimura, Americana, V-lock, and Pillow Lock. From there, we transition to a more tactical, self-defense application: controlling an attacker’s knife hand from side control.

Key elements covered:
The importance of frames to create solid control on the weapon limb
Establishing a master grip (inspired by Eric Paulson)
Isolating and controlling the elbow to neutralize the weapon
Finishing the exchange with a lock or submission

We close out with a live drill showing how to combine these elements fluidly and safely.
