The Supreme Court recently blocked the deployment of the national guard in Chicago, Illinois, in support of ICE agents, marking another instance where federal intervention in "blue cities" has faced legal challenges. This follows similar roadblocks in Portland, Oregon, and Los Angeles, California.

In contrast, Louisiana's Republican Gov. Jeff Landry requested the deployment of 350 National Guard troops to his state. These troops are being activated ahead of major events, including New Year's Eve, a college football playoff game at the Sugar Bowl, and Mardi Gras.
