Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC) established in 1961 is one of the oldest and most prestigious college in North Bengal.

JGEC offers B.Tech and B.Tech lateral in 6 different domains namely Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Information Technology (IT), Civil Engineering (CE), Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Electrical Engineering (EE). JGEC also offers M.Tech in Civil Engineering (CE) and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).

College also has variety of clubs for socio-culture and all round development. Some notable clubs are Coders' Club (DNC), Innovation and Robotics (CFI) , Dance Club (Wavezz), Music Club (Califony), JYOTI (Teaching lesser privileged children) and many more.

Admission to B.Tech are through WBJEE score, B.Tech lateral through JELET and M.Tech through GATE score.
