The Gilson HM-55 Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC) Passing Ability Set, aids in determining the passing ability of Self-Consolidating Concrete, defined as the ability of the concrete to flow under its own weight to completely fill all spaces within the formwork as specified in ASTM C1611 and C1621.

Depending upon the procedure selected, a slump cone is positioned either inverted or upright in the middle of the J-Ring and then filled with concrete. The cone is then lifted straight up and the diameter of the resulting circular concrete flow is measured. A similar test is then run without the J-Ring in place and the difference in the flow diameters is recorded as the passing ability.

Gilson offers this equipment as a set or as individual components, but the complete HM-55 Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC) Passing Ability Set includes everything you need to monitor the consistency of fresh, unhardened self-consolidating concrete and its unconfined flow potential.
The HM-55 includes a J-Ring assembly with sixteen (0.625in (16mm) diameter by 4in (102mm) high) bars evenly spaced in a 12in (305mm) diameter circle; a sturdy modified metal Slump Cone with built-in handles for easily lifting off the Base Plate (Foot tabs have been removed to conveniently fit inside the J-Ring); a high-density polyethylene Strike-Off Bar; and a plastic Base Plate which is inscribed with concentric circles for use when performing J-Ring and Slump-Flow tests.
