Step one: drop your edited footage into AE. Then run a quick scene edit detection so it chops everything into smaller clips. That just makes life easier, trust me.

Step two: pick the clip you wanna track. Usually, I go for shots where the face is really clear. Go to the very first frame — just hit the “I” key — then open up the Tracker panel. If you don’t see it, no worries, go to Window and turn on Tracker. Now click Stabilize Motion, and boom, your footage opens in the layer viewer.

Step three: you’ll see a little tracking box. Here’s the trick — pick a point that’s steady and never disappears. Don’t use the eyes — they blink, they move. Instead, grab the nose or the bridge of the nose. Super reliable.

Step four: hit Analyze Forward. Let it run, and watch the tracker follow frame by frame. If it sticks right on the nose the whole way, you’re golden.

Step five: hit Apply. Make sure it’s set to both X and Y position data. Click OK, done. Easy.

Step six: now, sometimes you’ll get these annoying black borders around your footage. Two quick fixes:

Option one: just scale up the footage till the borders are gone. Super quick.

Option two: add a Motion Tile effect. Set width and height to 200, check Mirror Edges. That’ll blend everything out nice and smooth.
