...Source: https://driveteslacanada.ca/news/tesl... Transcript: Norway has set a new global record in the electric vehicle market. According to Drive Tesla, 94% of all new cars sold in Norway in August 2024 were fully electric. Out of 11,114 cars sold, 10,480 were electric vehicles. The Tesla Model Y led the market, making up 19% of all new vehicle sales. Other popular models included the Hyundai Kona, Nissan Leaf, and Volvo EX30.

Norway's success is largely due to strong government incentives, including tax breaks and perks like free parking and toll exemptions. This has put the country on track to meet its goal of selling 100% zero-emission vehicles by 2025, a full decade ahead of the European Union's 2035 target.

In contrast, the EU lags behind, with electric vehicles making up only 12.1% of new car sales in July 2024. Gasoline cars still dominate the market there, highlighting the gap between Norway's progress and the rest of Europe.
