Chinese PR Boss Quits After Facing Backlash for Glorifying Toxic Work Culture: Reports

Baidu's media relations chief, Qu Jing, has resigned after posting a string of videos endorsing a toxic work culture. In the videos posted on the Chinese social media platform Douyin last week, Qu says she demands 24/7 availability from her staff with no weekends off. The Baidu executive said she doesn't even know her son's grade due to her obsession with work. She threatened to blacklist any employee who questioned her management style. The videos caused a backlash on Chinese social media. She later apologised for her "inappropriate" comments. However, the incident highlighted China's 996 work-hour system, which asks employees to work from 9 AM to 9 PM, six days a week.
