Описание к видео House Judiciary Committee holds impeachment markup, Johnson questions specific procedure

House Democrats' impeachment charades continue as Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-Ny.) holds a markup entitled “Resolution of Investigative Procedures” -- changing certain elements of committee procedure to allow the Democrats to claim that they are undertaking an impeachment inquiry.

Here, Rep. Mike Johnson (LA-04) explains the absurdity of one of the rules changes. Why should the chairman designate a staffer (or hired gun attorney) to question an impeachment witness instead of members themselves -- who are elected by and accountable to the people?

About U.S. Representative Mike Johnson

U.S. Representative Mike Johnson represents Louisiana’s Fourth District, where he, his wife and their four children live in Bossier Parish. He is a dedicated husband and father, as well as a former, constitutional law attorney who has devoted his life and career to fighting for the fundamental freedoms and traditional values that have always been a priority to the people of Louisiana.

For nearly 20 years, he successfully litigated high profile constitutional law cases in district and appellate courts nationwide. He is widely recognized as a leading defender of the right to life, religious liberty, free speech, the Second Amendment and free market principles.

As the eldest son of a Shreveport firefighter who was critically burned and disabled in the line of duty, Congressman Johnson learned early on the values of hard work, honor and sacrifice. He has a practical understanding of the challenges that small business owners face because he, like his parents and grandparents, was one himself.

Congressman Johnson currently serves as the chairman of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), the largest caucus of conservatives in Congress. Since its founding in 1973, the RSC has served as the voice and "intellectual arsenal" of conservatism in the U.S. House of Representatives and as a leading influence in shaping the legislative agenda.

Congressman Johnson is a member of the House Judiciary Committee and was named ranking member of the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties. He also serves on the House Natural Resources Committee overseeing American energy production, mineral issues, fisheries and several other key contributors to Louisiana’s economy.

Louisiana’s Fourth District largely includes the Northwest portion of Louisiana, including Shreveport, Bossier City, Natchitoches, Minden, De Ridder, Opelousas, Leesville, Eunice, Ville Platte, Mansfield and Benton.
