For a while, I have wanted to make some troubleshoot videos with this cistern, I left the Niagara & Stom out as they were already restored & I didn't want to mess around with them too much. This is the first upload, and was ironically requested for me to do a few hours ago. Flush a WC cistern without a flushpipe, so here we go, here's how I am going to start this off.

Some older cisterns can't flush without a flushpipe for some reason, and this c1959 Stom "Burlington" does just that. It's got all the hallmark traits of it being particular with the way you pull the chain to flush it. Other similar cisterns like "The Niagara" and "The Torrent" can flush easily without a flushpipe, while my Shires Hippo, Mignon & Stom Cardiff was unable to flush without a flushpipe. If you have just brought a cistern, flushing it without a flushpipe isn't a good way to know how well it works, always fit a bit of flushpipe, no matter how small onto the cistern to show wether or not it works. Here, it is impossible to flush it even with the cistern at the overflow point without forcing the bell down, while on the second flush with the small piece of flushpipe connected, it only just manages to scrape out a flush on the second pull at the water level set just below the engraved water line. Next video will be the comparison of using a normal 32mm flushpipe vs a 40mm waste pipe.
