Obviously, there are thousands of potential rides in this tiny country, so these are just the top experiences to enjoy on your next trip to Switzerland.

💡Keep in mind that you probably won’t be able to squeeze all of these into one trip, so just bookmark the ones that feel most can’t-miss to you!

For your added convenience, we’ve grouped these experiences by train pass coverage and region. Because what’s better than an epic ride that costs you zero extra Swiss Francs?!

SWISS TRAVEL PASS
In the Jungfrau Region, this well-marketed Swiss rail pass can get you to our favorite village, up and over a mountain, and on a historic steamboat.

In Central Switzerland near Lucerne, you can ride on top of a cable car, hop on a scenic cogwheel train, or ride on the steepest funicular in the world!

And as a bonus, you can also board a vintage train or join a VIP class along a panoramic train route. And just for fun, why not cruise along 2 lakes?!

OTHER
We didn’t include the formal Swiss panoramic trains in this list because we plan to make another video all about those. But there are 3 notable Bucket List Rides that aren’t covered by any train pass — one through a mountain, another on a mini cable car, and finally on a car train.

(Yep, you read that right! Don’t skip this section of the video for unique, off-the-beaten-tourist-track rides!)

JUNGFRAU REGION
If we haven't met, we’re Jana + Brett, and we live near Interlaken — so this is our hometown region!

Thanks to 2 different regional passes (Berner Oberland Pass and Jungfrau Travel Pass), you can ride a 1-hour cogwheel train with lake and mountain views, or soar over the valley in a giant gondola, or wind up and over a mountain on a stunning bus ride, or even hop on board a historic steam train.

TELL-PASS IN LUCERNE
Next up is Lucerne, Switzerland. Here you can board the steepest cogwheel train in the world, ride a rotating cable car, or hop on an open-air chairlift toward one of our absolute favorite Swiss lakes.

PEAK PASS IN ZERMATT
The final train pass we’re covering on our Swiss Transportation Bucket List gets you to one of our favorite peaks in the region with glacier views, as well as up close and personal with the Matterhorn.
