How To Install a Lokka Step by Step! R50 Pathfinder Install Guide. Based on Lokka + FSM Instructions

Here's an overview on how I installed my front Lokka from 4WD Systems. If this video is up, the lokka is working. I go step by step on this lokka install, and I hope it helps anyone else looking to install a lokka. The lokka is an auto locker, and in the case of R50 Pathfinder/QX4 installs (they have the exact same diffs available) lokka only makes a unit for our front diffs. R50 front diffs are unique to the R50 generation and cannot be found on any other vehicle. The lokka design is quite genius and is well suited to be daily driven, especially if you have manual hubs. For anyone looking to upgrade their R50 Pathfinder/QX4 overland or Off road build, the lokka is a serious tractoin upgrade at a great price. Things that didn't make it into the video: I replaced my roll pin with new OEM. This is a good practice. I replaced several seals, consider doing the same yourself. If your lokka does not measure into spec, you will need to source your own shims. The parts are no longer available from Nissan.

Any time you open up a differentials, take great care. Differentials are vital parts of your drivetrian, and improperly set up differentials can cause massive failures, rending your vehicle undrivable. Lokkas are specifically designed to be set up by DIY mechanics not unlike myself. Ideally, an in spec diff will still be in spec after a lokka install, provided everything goes back in the way it came out (ring gear, bearing caps, etc). Lokka's instructions sometimes leave a little to be desired. Order of operations on greasing, measuring, and installing the threaded plug can be a bit confusing.

Always follow Lokka and FSM provided instructions over any other information, including this video. Be sure to write down Lokka specifications on their provided spec sheet.
