The Mariveles-Hermosa-San Jose Transmission Line stands to benefit 59 million households and other power consumers as the backbone facility further secures and stabilizes the power transmission services in Luzon.

This was assured by NGCP President Anthony Almeda during the inauguration and energization at full capacity of the landmark project, which he called "a critical component in ensuring the reliability and sustainability of our power grid."

“This critical backbone provides a new high voltage link capable of transmitting a total of 8,000MW of power from power plants in Bataan and Zambales,” Almeda said.

“The line is ready to serve and benefit the 59 million households and other power consumers in Luzon,” he added.

Almeda also thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who was present during the event, for his commitment to improving the nation’s infrastructure, which served as the driving force behind the completion of some NGCP big-ticket projects in the past 12 months.

Among these big-ticket projects were the Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection, the Cebu-Negros-Panay 230kV Interconnection, and today’s full energization of the Mariveles-Hermosa-San Jose 500kV line.

“Commitment to excellence has always been part of NGCP’s DNA, and we will continue to strive harder, along with the support of our national government, in bringing better service for all Filipinos,” he added.

The Chief Executive, for his part, highlighted the benefits of the project to grid customers in Luzon. "Once operational, it will certainly strengthen power transmission services, not only in the region, but all the way to Metro Manila...This transmission project attests to the transformative power of collaboration between the public and the private sectors to be able to attain a stable, reliable, and resilient power supply for the country."

The Mariveles-Hermosa-San Jose 500kV project is a major component in NGCP’s planned Western Luzon 500kV transmission backbone, which is integral to the company's long-term vision of a resilient and efficient power grid that is capable of meeting the country’s growing energy demands.

With a project cost of PhP20.94 Billion, it includes 395 transmission towers, 275.6 circuit kilometers of overhead lines, 2 new substations, and 2,000 MegaVolt Amperes (MVA) of substation capacity.
