Nissan is developing a supercharged hybrid powertrain, and it's likely to end up in the Infiniti JX small crossover. Nissan says the new powertrain advances the system in the current Infiniti M35 hybrid but is revised for front- and all-wheel-drive setups.

Nissan declined to reveal power or fuel-mileage specs, though they did say it uses one motor and two clutches.

General Motors European unit Opel revealed its midsized Cascada convertible in a series of photos on Wednesday. We expect the two-door soft top will be sold as a Buick one day in the U.S.

The Cascada's roof opens in 17 seconds both remotely at a standstill and at speeds up to 30 mph from the driver's seat. GM has yet to officially confirm the platform for the United States, but it already won approval from company brass.

Now back to Nissan. The Japanese company is testing all-electric versions of the NV200 minivan. It draws power from a 24-kWh lithium-ion battery package and is rated at 107 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque.

The prototypes are currently being tested by FedEx, and production is likely to begin in Barcelona, Spain next year. The NV200 has already been chosen as the taxi of choice for a number of major cities, including New York and London.
