I am sure this tutorial will help you understand the basic shading method I use for my Procreate dress illustrations. I often receive comments and messages like, “Can you do tutorials for your faux leather dresses?”

But I think starting with a complex texture like that could be confusing for beginners. That’s why I created this quick and simple shading video for you—perfect for anyone new to fashion illustration in Procreate!

You can use any brush from your built-in Procreate library. In this tutorial, I’m using my own custom brushes, but the most important thing is to get comfortable with whichever brush you choose. Don’t worry if it takes a little time to master your brush and achieve smooth shading—practice is key!
