UAV365 surveyed a proposed quarry site which involved producing a cleaned pointcloud and topographical survey. The job requirement involved removing all vegetation from the data to understand the topography of the land for future planning.

The team utilised the Emesent Hovermap ST to capture the entire area in under twenty minutes. The tree canopy proved too dense to use GPS. Therefore ground control was surveyed using reflective discs via a total station resection, providing survey control on the forest floor with the use of reflective discs. The resulting video features the forest area in its entirety, with an underlying contour map of the forest floor and vegetation removal. Highlighting both the benefits of LiDAR use in dense vegetation and also the application of the Emesent Hovermap ST in a challenging environment.
