Vidushi Subhalakshmi is a graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan and a Gold Medalist in Music. She started learning music at the age of 5, under Guru Valliammal,Trivandrum. She learnt under Late Chertala Sri. R. Gopalan Nair and Smt. Gomathi Chidambaram, both senior Staff Artist, AIR, Trivandrum. She was fortunate to receive advanced lessons from Padmabhushan Madurai Sri. T.N. Seshagopalan. She continued her musical tutelage from Sangeeta Kalaratna Ganakalasree Vidushi M.S. Sheela, for more than a decade.
Blessed with a sweet, melodious voice and clear diction, Subhalakshmi has won music competitions at various cultural fests and organisations. She has enthralled music lovers in more than 170 concerts in various Sabhas, Temples, Cultural Organisations, Festivals etc., in India and abroad and more than 15 online platforms.
Subhalakshmi was conferred the titles “Sastreeya Sangeetha Kokilam” ,"Sri Syama Sastry Sangeetha Ratna", "Naada Chintamani". She has a Guinness World Record for online relay singing.
She is a Govt. Certified Music Therapist. She was also awarded "Global Women Achievers 2021" for her outstanding contributions to Music. She has 15 solo albums to her credit in 5 languages --- Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. She has scored music for the lyrical part of her albums. The CD reviews also have appeared in leading dailies. They are being listed in Amazon websites, Flipkart, ‘Music India Online’, Raaga.com, Apple music, gaana.com etc. She has also rendered 2 Audio Visuals "Sri Krishna Madhuri" & "Purandara Gurum Vande" popular compositions with enchanting visuals.
She has performed in many popular TV channels like TTD SVBC- Nadaneerajanam, DD Malayalam, Sri Sankara TV, Janam TV, Kairali, Surya, DD Chandana, Udaya to name a few. Excellent reviews of her concert by eminent critics have appeared in leading dailies in five languages :-

She was the guest in a morning show titled “Shubhadinam’ in Kairali Channel. Subhalakshmi was interviewed as “Star of the Day” in a prime time programme of DD Malayalam. She was featured in the Tamil magazine “Mangayar Malar” in their annual edition. And “PENNMANI” Tamil monthly.
She has conceived and presented a novel programme “Musical Discourse with Dance”. Three such programmes by her, titled “Rama Kathamritham”, “Purushothaman Pugazh” and “Girija Kalyanam” have won wide acclaims. She also performed twice, All Women Carnatic Ensemble –“Stree Sangeetha Sourabha” and “Stree Sangeetha Laya Madhuri” with an all women team of 6 artists which won excellent recognition. She has won appreciation not only from connoisseurs and rasikas, but also from great spiritual leaders like Swami Chinmayananda, Swami Udit Chaitanya, Swami Tejomayananda, Swami Swaroopananda etc. She has conducted music workshops for the benefit of students and music researchers. Subhalakshmi has also composed kritis on Lord Guruvayoorappan, Saraswati, Ayyappa, Murugan, Krishna, etc which she has tuned and presented in concerts.
She was invited to present a paper titled “Technology and Music” at the International Conference on the Science of Music, MG University, Kerala. She presented paper in International Conference on Music & Dance, Indira Nagar Sangeetha Sabha, Bangalore.
Academically, Subhalakshmi is a qualified Electronics Engineer and a Space Scientist by Profession. She served as Deputy Director in Indian Space Research Organization, Bangalore.
