The Double Fisherman’s (Grapevine Bend) is an excellent and reliable way of joining two ropes, especially in climbing. The knot is formed by tying a Double Overhand Knot around the opposite line's standing part.

Here is how to tie the Double Fisherman’s Knot:
1. Overlap the two ends.
2. Wrap one end over the others standing part and tuck under itself.
3. Wrap around both lines
4. Then thread the end back through both openings and pull tight.
5. repeat with the other free working end.
6. Pull on both standing parts to tighten the two knots against each other.

The Triple Fisherman's Knot is an extension of the double Fisherman's Knot and is recommended for tying slippery materials. Tying the Triple Fisherman's Knot is nearly identical to the Double Fisherman's, except a third wrap is added before threading each end..

The Double and Triple Fisherman’s are not complicated knots to tie. Careful inspection is extremely important before usage. The Double and triple Fisherman’s are well known, reliable, and compact but are very difficult to untie after being under a load.
