A song about getting better as we get older.

I have written motivational songs for companies through the years, IBM, Bally's, Six Flags, AT&T and many others. I've always thought a company's mission could be more easily understood when it's expressed in music.

My "home" for 15 years, through the 1980's and 90's, was QVC. They recently embarked on a program called "The Age of Possibility." Always curious about my alma mater, I tried to understand what it was. I finally started writing this song and the meaning became clear when I finished it.

I have no desire to sell or in any way benefit from this song. It just wouldn't let me rest until I spelled it out in lyrics, notes and chords. As I teach songwriting classes, it is a good example for my students of one way a song gets written. My mind kept coming up with phrases and harmonies, even when I went to bed. By finishing it, I can finally get some rest, lol.

My life is very full in my retirement and I would hope no one tosses around the "B" word (bitter). I am likely way too old to return to QVC in any capacity. I know I could help them sell more, but those days are in the past. My songwriting and performing are going very well and some of my songs are on hold for telemovies on various cable channels. I am also teaching courses on songwriting, harmonica and guitar. I'm busier now than I was when I worked full time.

I think this song would be a great anthem for QVC's new program. A seasoned country musician could do it justice. If I had contacts there, I would pitch it. But I'm satisfied that I "got it out of my system."

I wish them well with The Age of Possibility. At least now, I have a good idea what they're trying to convey.
