10.03.2020 | 3:47 AM | MISSION HILLS (CNS) - Firefighters stopped the progress of a 1.5 acre brush fire in Mission Hills Saturday morning in about 40 minutes, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 3:45 a.m. in the 10800 block of Arleta Avenue, near Ducat Street and the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"Firefighters have lines around the entire perimeter of the fire and all forward progress has been stopped," Stewart said at 4:25 a.m. Saturday. "Crews are transitioning to a mop up operation."

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.

The Nos. 3, 4 and 5 lanes of the eastbound Ronald Reagan Freeway at the Golden State (5) Freeway and the eastbound Ronald Reagan transition to the southbound Golden State Freeway were closed for an extended period of time.
