Triumph TR250 Restoration

Today was a good day. I started off by installing the TR6 adjustable air valves in the carburetors, I had adjusted them as lean as they would go. Any further and the needles would have come off the adjusters. We started the car and it ran pretty good but was still just a bit rich. Since there was no more adjustment left on the air valves the only thing left was to raise the needle jets. I knew the jets were set too low, they were between .120 and .130. The factory setting is .100. I removed and disassembled the carburetors and set the needle jets to .100. I put them back together and installed them on the car and we started it again. The car was running better but now it was just a bit lean. I raised the needle jets a half turn at a time and used the lift the air valve test until the engine was happy. Its idling very smoothly at 850 rpm and purrs like a kitten.

We have been fighting the carburetors for some time now and it's such a relief to finally get them running very well. Eureka!!
