Friday I went Live on IG as we took over the streets in front of Universal Studios! Making history as we actors & writers fight for livable wages and fair pay.

Many people think this is “rich people whining to get richer”. But no, there’s is only a small percentage of people who are millionaires compared to 160,000 members of the actors union. In fact, 87% of union actors don’t earn the $26K annual minimum needed to qualify for healthcare. Many writers of the WGA have admitted to accepting awards for hit TV shows or films while having a negative bank account. Please don’t don’t equate popularity or fame to wealth. They don’t go hand in hand.

Now that online streaming exists, our unions are asking for a updated contracts that would allow us to earn a livable wage based on the new working conditions. (Shorter seasons, less pay, yet more revenue earned repeatedly). The CEOs of the major studios (AMPTP) earn hundreds of millions of dollars in salaries, but we creators receive peanuts in pay and pennies in residual payments.

Then they want to scan our faces and use our images for AI forever, without paying us again. This is exploitation.

Almost all labor industries are being exploited. If you don’t like your work conditions, you should stand up for yourself too.
