Armley Rugby Club closed because its home ground, the West Leeds Sports & Social Club, closed in 2019. The social club was later targeted by vandalism and fly-tipping, and a developer planned to demolish it, though those plans were eventually withdrawn. While the club is no longer operational, the future of the site was in limbo for a while before plans emerged for the site to be used as a school
