“ConeXion” is a Dance Battle format created, directed, and produced by Yeri Anarika • DanceWorks, in cooperation with UMtanz and with the theatre or institution hosting the performance. Each edition generates new variations on its central concept, keeping the spirit of encounter and improvisation alive.
The show thrives on spontaneity, exchange, and shared joy. Inspired by the principles of breakdance battles, it places the dancers’ improvisational skills at the core. The result is a unique performance in which each artist shares their passion for dance — free, powerful, and connecting everyone present. The audience becomes an active part of the event, experiencing firsthand how dance transcends boundaries.

On stage, nine international professional dancers from different styles come together, primarily urban dance forms (breakdance, popping, locking), as well as ballet and contemporary dance. This stylistic diversity creates a vibrant dialogue between techniques, artistic backgrounds, and creative visions.
The performers, originating from various countries, bring their individual movement biographies to the stage, transforming it into a space where dance becomes a universal language. The performance celebrates the diversity of human expression and builds bridges between styles and cultures. Each dancer represents not only their discipline, but also their identity and cultural background, creating a living intercultural dialogue.
Since 2021, “ConeXion” has been presented annually in a rural context, in the town of Templin in northern Germany, bringing international stage dance to new audiences. The energy and dynamic character of the event attract both children and adults, moving and inspiring them through its participatory format. The audience is close to the action, and a jury invited by the creator adds further identity and excitement to the moment.

The performance always includes the participation of young dancers or local community members, who take part as a key element of the artistic and cultural exchange.

For five consecutive years, the project has been made possible in northern Germany through the collaboration between UMtanz e.V., Yeri Anarika • DanceWorks, and the Multikulturelles Zentrum Templin. The music has been provided by DJ Chamigo Hugkleson, whose energy enhances the dynamic atmosphere. The show is hosted by Yeri Anarika together with a young moderator from the region, guiding the audience in a fresh, engaging, and personal way throughout the experience.

“ConeXion” is an artistic statement in favor of cultural diversity, social participation, and the transformative and unifying power of dance.
