Right Vs Left: Deciphering The Political Landscape of India | Deepak Srinivasan |

Описание к видео Right Vs Left: Deciphering The Political Landscape of India | Deepak Srinivasan |

The Congress and its allies have effectively consolidated minority votes, particularly from Muslims, who made up about 14-15% of the population in the 2011 census, likely increasing due to high fertility rates. The Indian left is generally satisfied with the current constitutional framework, given the Congress's historical dominance, making it difficult for the right to enact changes that require majorities in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
The first-past-the-post electoral system often benefits opposition parties, allowing them to manipulate vote distributions. Economic growth can lead to rising inequality, which the left may exploit through caste-based identity politics. In contrast, the right advocates for national unity, a uniform civil code, and infrastructure projects that reflect civilizational heritage.
Moving forward, India’s growth will depend on establishing strong institutions, sound policies, and political stability while addressing societal divisions to mitigate vulnerabilities to adversarial powers like China. Additionally, achieving financial independence and enhancing domestic arms manufacturing will be crucial for national security.
