JOHHNY ARCHER vs EFREN REYES - Sands Regency Open XXIII

The #1 and #2 ranked players at the time, faced off on the one loss side of the Sands Regency Open XXIII on June 8th, 1996.

Archer, only 27 at the time, was already many time winner of this event, as well as the 1992 World 9-Ball Champion. He would go on to be named the 1996 Player of the Year.

Reyes, 41, was considered by most to be the best player in the game at that time. He has gone on to be names as one of the greatest of all time.

This match is a true masterpiece with a fitting final rack that saw these two champions battle for nearly 15 minutes before determining a final winner.
